This article appeared in the Kalamazoo Gazette August 15, 2009. Actually, it was in the Hometown Gazette; a tailored version made for the local community. Oddly enough, it appeared in just about every version of the Hometown Gazette with the noteable exectiption of Plainwell. We found out that it was published when friends called. We had to get a copy from them. :)

The story was instigated by AOPA. AOPA asked the Gazette if they would like to do a story on General Aviation. If they do, then they find local pilots willing to cooperate. I had done this once before so I was tapped again. The focus of the article was supposed to be on small business using GA. When it came up in the interview that I was building my own plane, the focus seemed to shift. They wanted pictures of the project, etc. My buddy Brett Ferrell said he was also contacted for the article.

I am pleased with the article. I think we showed GA and Home Building in a positive light. It is kind of cute how they managed to spell my name a couple different ways.

The Union Enterprise is a small town news paper that circulates in Allegan County. It's fun because any small event is big news. They contacted me to learn more about Young Eagles and wanted to do an interview when they found I was building an airplane at my house. I managed to make the back page. :)
